Sing-Along Vocal Recovery Workout

Get Your Voice Back After Illness or Overuse

Feeling the Strain After Illness or Overuse?

Let's get your voice back on track with some easy and effective exercises!

In this Sing-Along Vocal Recovery Workout, we'll focus on two simple exercises to boost blood flow, reduce swelling, and improve resonance and efficientcy to get your vocal folds feeling good to go again.

Let's Dive In and Start Your Vocal Recovery!

1. Exercise 1: Sliding 5ths on the SOVT of your choice (SOVT = Semi Occluded Vocal Tract = Partially closed mouth!)

  • Pick a comfy sound like lip trills or humming with a straw.
  • Start at a neutral pitch (easy and around your speaking voice) and smoothly slide up and down by 5ths.
  • Keep the sound consistent and chill, no need to push it.

2. Exercise 2: Octave Exercise on SOVT and Resonant "My"

  • Sing an octave range on your chosen "partially closed mouth" sound.
  • Then repeat on a resonant "My" sound.
  • Focus on the forward buzz of the "Mmm," aiming for a relaxed, efficient feel.

Why Just Two Exercises?

We're keeping it simple because now's the time to optimize and recover, not overwork and create more fatigue. These exercises target key areas to help your voice bounce back faster and stronger.

Remember...

It's a process so take it easy and listen to your body. With regular practice, you'll feel your voice getting back to its best.
